How Long Does a House Demolition Take?

June 3, 2026 · 2 min read · how long does house demolition take

Most residential house demolitions are down in 1 to 3 days, plus the time to haul the debris off site. A small single-story home can come down in a single day. A larger two-story house, or one with a heavy concrete foundation, takes a little longer. The actual teardown is the fast part — what stretches the overall timeline is permits and utility disconnects on the front end.

What Affects the Timeline

  • Size and construction. A bigger house or a poured concrete foundation takes more passes with the machines.
  • Site access. Easy access to the lot keeps things moving. Tight or fenced lots add time.
  • Disposal. Hauling off the debris is part of the job, and more material means more trips to the dump.
  • Weather. Heavy Central Florida rain can pause a job for safety, though we plan around it.

Permits Come First

Every demolition in Florida needs a permit, and the utilities have to be disconnected before we knock anything down. We handle pulling the permit and scheduling the disconnects as part of the job, so that work happens before the machines arrive. Once everything is cleared, the teardown itself moves quickly and the site is left clean.
