Structure Demolition
in Oviedo, FL
Tearing down a building in Oviedo starts with a paper stack, not a machine. The city wants a notarized application filed electronically with the parcel ID, insurance certificates naming the City of Oviedo, and the original state demolition notice. We put that package together, then we take the structure down, haul it out, and leave you a clean lot.

How it works
Getting structure demolition done in Oviedo
Build the permit package
We pull the parcel ID, prepare the notarized application, attach the contractor paperwork and our insurance certificates naming the City of Oviedo, and file the original FDEP notice at least 10 working days before demolition.
Disconnect and abandon
Utilities are cut and confirmed off, and if the house is on septic, the tank is abandoned under a Seminole County Health Department permit before our machines touch the building.
Demolish and clear the lot
We take the structure down, load it on our own trucks for the Seminole County Landfill in Geneva, remove the slab and footers when the plan calls for it, and grade the lot.
The Mintel Difference
Owner-operated.
Every job.
No renting equipment after the handshake. No cheap subcontracted labor. We own and run our own fleet of machines, so the people who quote your job are the people on the controls.

What the Oviedo Building Department asks for
The City of Oviedo Building Department works out of the City Hall Annex at 320 Alexandria Blvd, and its demolition requirements are specific. The application is notarized and filed electronically with your parcel ID. The contractor has to show a license plus liability and workers comp certificates that name the City of Oviedo. The original Florida DEP demolition notice, Form 62-257.900(1), goes in with it. If the house is on septic, the Seminole County Health Department has to issue a septic abandonment permit for the tank. Missing any one of these holds up the permit, and that is where most owner-run teardown plans stall. We file all of it as part of the job, because a demolition that waits on paperwork only costs you time on the calendar. You sign where the owner signs, and we handle everything else on the file.
Older Oviedo buildings versus newer ones
Oviedo's median home was built in 1997, according to the Census, so much of the city is newer construction. The teardowns we see tend to come from the older parts of town around downtown, and from properties being cleared for a rebuild as the city keeps growing east. Older structures are the ones most likely to have asbestos in siding, flooring or roofing, which is why the state notice and an asbestos survey come before any demolition.
Most houses run $7,000 to $14,000 turn-key, with the permit and haul-off included. Debris goes to the Seminole County Landfill in Geneva, and asbestos is accepted there only by appointment, so we book that ahead when a survey finds it. Once the last load is gone, we grade the lot so it drains and is ready for your builder or the next owner.

Oviedo FAQ
Common questions
- Why does Oviedo want the original FDEP notice?
- Florida requires notice to the Department of Environmental Protection at least 10 working days before a demolition starts, under state rule 62-257, and Oviedo asks for the original form, 62-257.900(1), with the permit application. The rule exists because older buildings can contain asbestos. We file the notice and keep the timing right so it does not push back your start date.
- My house is on septic. What has to happen to the tank?
- Before demolition, the tank needs a septic abandonment permit from the Seminole County Health Department, and it is pumped and abandoned or removed under that permit. Oviedo lists it among its demolition requirements. We coordinate it with the rest of the job so the old tank does not end up buried under a future slab or driveway.
- Can I take down a canopy tree on the lot at the same time?
- Not without a permit. Oviedo requires one to remove any canopy tree in city limits, though palms, fruit trees and smaller understory trees like crape myrtle are exempt. If a tree is in the way of the teardown or the new build, we point it out at the walkthrough so you can get the permit before demolition day.
- What does structure demolition cost in Oviedo?
- Most single-family teardowns are down and hauled off in one to three days once permits and utility disconnects clear. We crush the structure, load it onto our own trucks, and grade the lot clean. Every property is different, so the only honest number is one we give you after walking the site. Call 407-443-2863 for a free, no-obligation estimate in Oviedo.
