Concrete & Driveway Removal
in DeLand, FL

Most DeLand concrete jobs we see are tired driveways, cracked patios and old walkways around homes near downtown and Stetson, plus longer slab runs out on rural parcels. We break it, load it on our own trucks and run it to the county transfer station right here in DeLand. You get bare, graded ground and a price set at $2 a square foot.

Concrete & Driveway Removal in DeLand, FL — Mintel Land Management

Concrete & Driveway Removal done right

Concrete removal is one of our most-requested jobs, and for good reason — we show up with the right machines, break it fast, and haul every piece off the property. Residential driveways, commercial aprons, sidewalk runs, curb sections — we've done them all across Central Florida. Roughly $2/sq ft depending on thickness and access. Call us at 407-443-2863 for a free estimate.

How it works

Getting concrete & driveway removal done in DeLand

Step 1

Measure and check thickness

We walk the DeLand driveway or slab, measure the square footage and look at the edges to judge thickness and reinforcement. You get a written number based on the $2 rate and the 500 square foot minimum.

Step 2

Locate lines and protect edges

We call Sunshine 811 at least two full business days before we break, then mark irrigation, the curb line and anything you want kept. In tight in-town driveways that planning keeps the sidewalk and street clean.

Step 3

Break, load, run to DeLand

Our machine breaks the slab into manageable pieces, our trucks load it, and the loads go to the West Volusia Transfer Station on East New York Avenue. We scrape and level the subgrade before we pull out.

The Mintel Difference

Owner-operated.
Every job.

No renting equipment after the handshake. No cheap subcontracted labor. We own and run our own fleet of machines, so the people who quote your job are the people on the controls.

Concrete & Driveway Removal · DeLand

Where your old driveway ends up

Broken concrete is heavy, and the cost of moving it is a big part of any tear-out. In DeLand that works in your favor. Volusia County takes demolition debris at the West Volusia Transfer Station on East New York Avenue, inside DeLand itself, so our trucks are not burning half a day driving loads across the county. The county charges $41.09 a ton as of October 1, 2026, and that fee is already inside our price. You never get a separate disposal bill from us.

We do not leave piles at the curb for a second crew to come back for. The same crew that breaks the slab loads it, and the trucks leave full. When we are done, the area is scraped flat and ready for whatever is going in next, whether that is new concrete, pavers, sod or a gravel parking pad.

In-town lots versus rural acreage

A driveway on a narrow downtown or Stetson-area street is a different job from a long slab on acreage outside the city. In town, the work is about protecting what is close: the curb, the sidewalk, mailboxes, irrigation heads and the neighbor's car. We size the machine to the lot and plan where the truck sits before we start breaking. Out on rural land, room is not the problem. Distance is. We bring our own trucks and trailers so a long run of concrete does not stall waiting on an outside hauler.

Either way, the price works the same. We measure the square footage, apply the $2 rate with a 500 square foot minimum, and write it down before anyone picks up a tool. If the slab turns out thicker than it looks or has heavy steel in it, we tell you at the walkthrough, not after.

DeLand homes

Half the homes in DeLand were built in 1995 or earlier (U.S. Census, American Community Survey). Newer neighborhoods mean more pool removals, slab tear-outs and pad prep than full teardowns.

Rules and fees checked against official sources in October 2026. Cities change them, so we confirm with City of DeLand Building Division before every job.

He was very professional and respectful of our property, he was on time and his prices were very reasonable for the work performed. DeLand FAQ

Common questions

Can you take out just part of my driveway in DeLand and leave the rest?
Yes. We saw-cut a straight line where the old concrete should stop, so the section you keep has a clean edge instead of a broken one. That is common when someone is widening, adding a parking pad or replacing only the cracked apron. The 500 square foot minimum still applies, so small partial jobs are often paired with a patio or walkway.
Will my new driveway contractor be able to pour right after you leave?
That is the goal. We leave the subgrade scraped flat and free of broken chunks, so the next contractor is setting forms, not cleaning up. If your concrete crew wants a certain grade or wants base material placed, tell us before the job and we will grade to what they need.
Does DeLand need a permit to remove a driveway?
A plain tear-out usually is not handled like a building demolition, but the replacement can have its own rules, especially where a driveway meets the street. We check with the City of DeLand Building Division at 386-626-7000, or with Volusia County if your parcel is outside city limits, before we schedule.
What does concrete & driveway removal cost in DeLand?
We break the slab fast with the right machine, haul every piece off, and leave the ground graded. Driveways and aprons usually run around $2 a square foot depending on thickness and access. Every property is different, so the only honest number is one we give you after walking the site. Call 407-443-2863 for a free, no-obligation estimate in DeLand.
