Deltona takes trees seriously. Removing one takes a tree removal permit, and the application needs a tree survey listing each tree, its species and its trunk size, plus the math for replacement trees. Historic and specimen trees go through their own process. That rule covers taking the tree down, so if you still have a standing tree you want gone, the permit has to be sorted out first.

Karst, the limestone under much of Deltona, gives the city its rolling ground and scattered lakes. When a large root ball is left to rot, the soil above it loses support and sinks. On karst land, that low spot can also collect water every time it rains and stay soft. A ground-down stump that looked fine at first can become a hole you mow around within a few years.
We avoid that by taking the root ball out with the machine instead of grinding.
